Thinai / Foxtail Millet Adhirasam

is a traditional, doughnut-like South Indian sweet made primarily from Thinai/Foxtail millet and jaggery. It has a unique texture that is crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, with the rich, caramel flavor of jaggery.

Adhirasam is known by different names across various regions of India, such as Ariselu in Telugu, Kajjaya in Kannada, and Anarsa in Marathi.

Foxtail millet / Thinai is a good source of complex carbohydrates, fiber and high in protein and minerals like iron and copper. Provides a host of nutrients, has a sweet nutty flavour and is considered to be one of the most digestible and non - allergic grains.

Millets in general are gluten-free, highly nutritious and rich in dietary fibre. They are rich in micronutrients, including calcium, iron, phosphorus, etc. They are low in Glycemic Index (GI) as such don't cause huge spike in blood sugar. Millets should ideally be an integral part of our daily diet.
